DESCRIPTION:Whether you’re representing your agency before the Merit Systems Protection Board or the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission\, there is one ultimate goal: zealously advocate for your client to get the desired result. This interactive course will prepare you for these kinds of hearings whether you represent the agency side or the employee side. \nWednesday\, September 2: Developing a Theory \nIn this session\, you’ll learn strategies for developing a theory of the case and obtain guidance for the process including discovery\, depositions\, and motions practice. The content will be delivered in practical\, useful modules that provide the student with the tools needed to effectively practice employment law and represent the client when it matters most. \nLearning objectives \n\nEffectively request and respond to written discovery.\nTake and defend depositions.\nRecognize proper format\, practices\, and etiquette for hearings.\n\nThursday\, September 3: Developing the Record \nThis session will focus on developing the record. You’ll receive tips on litigation techniques to improve your skills – and make your position stand out. This course will address pre-hearing submissions\, opening statements\, direct examinations\, cross-examinations\, and closing statements. \nLearning objectives \n\nEffectively organize and prepare for the hearing.\nMake compelling opening and closing statements.\nAvoid the most common hearing mistakes.\n\nTraining time\n1:00 pm – 4:30 pm ET each day \nPricing\nEarly bird (register by August 2\, 2026) \n\n2 days = $995\n1 day = $550\n\nStandard (register August 3 – September 3\, 2026) \n\n2 days = $1\,095\n1 day = $650\n\nEvent FAQs\nCan I attend this class using my government computer?\nThis event will be held on Zoom. Many government computers and systems allow Zoom access. If\, for some reason\, your firewall will not allow access\, you are welcome to use your personal email address to register and to attend the sessions from your personal device. Dial-in telephone access is also available. \nCan I earn CLE credits for this class?\nCLE applications are the responsibility of each attendee; FELTG does not apply for the credits on behalf of attendees. If you are seeking CLE credit\, you may use the materials provided by FELTG in submission to your state bar. You may also request a certificate of completion\, which will contain the number of training hours attended. \nCan I share my access link with co-workers?\nNo. Registration for this event is per individual\, and access links may not be shared. Each link may only be used by one person. \nCan I register a teleworker?\nThis event is individual registration\, so the cost is the same whether the person is teleworking or attending from an agency facility. \nHow do I receive a group discount?\nGroup discounts are available for agencies that register 10 or more individuals for the full event by the early-bird registration deadline. The group discount must be requested in writing with registration submission via email or fax. \nWhat are the Substitute\, Cancellation\, and No-show Policies for registered participants?\nSubstitutions may be made at no cost with advance notice to FELTG. We kindly request a 24-hour advance notice. No substitutions will be permitted within one hour of the training start time. No cancellations are accepted within 30 days of the training start date. No cancellations are accepted on prepaid registrations. There are no refunds for no-shows.
